A Simple Tool for Growing Faithful Christian Leaders

Leadership in ministry is a gift—but it’s also a responsibility. Whether someone is leading a small group, serving in a youth ministry, mentoring younger believers, or stepping into a new leadership opportunity, the call to lead others spiritually is not something we should take lightly.

At the same time, Christian leadership isn’t about having everything figured out. It’s about growing.

Scripture reminds us that spiritual maturity doesn’t happen accidentally.

Paul encourages believers in 1 Timothy 4:7–8 to “train yourself for godliness.” Just as physical fitness requires consistent effort and intentional habits, spiritual growth requires a heart that is willing to keep learning, keep trusting God, and keep taking steps forward in faith.

That’s the idea behind the F.I.T. Leadership Training Guides.

F.I.T. stands for three qualities that shape healthy Christian leaders:
  • Faithful – showing up consistently and remaining dependable in our walk with God and our commitments to others.
  • Intentional – leading with purpose, thoughtfulness, and effort rather than drifting through responsibilities.
  • Teachable – maintaining a humble posture that is open to learning, correction, and growth.

These guides were created to help leaders reflect on these qualities through Scripture, discussion, and practical application. They’re designed to work in a variety of settings—youth leadership teams, ministry training, mentoring relationships, or personal leadership development.

Inside the resource you’ll find:
  • A discussion-based introduction lesson that establishes the FIT leadership framework
  • A Foundations guide focused on studying Scripture and understanding each leadership trait
  • A Growth & Reflection guide designed to help leaders evaluate their leadership and set practical goals for growth
  • Mentor discussion questions to help trainers or sponsors guide conversations with leaders

The goal of these guides isn’t perfection. The goal is growth—learning to follow Jesus with faithfulness, intentionality, and humility over time.

If you’re helping develop leaders in your church, ministry, or student group, I hope this resource serves as a helpful starting point.
